Mr. Rogers

If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
~Fred Rogers

A dear friend and I went to see the new Mr. Rogers movie last night, and what a heartfelt treat! I would caution you that Kleenex is important as tears flow for this present and thoughtful soul.  What a treasured human Mr. Rogers was.

As I sit with his heartwarming message to the world, I have been googling him to find out more about this icon.  I remember watching him as a child, but now I’m pretty sure I want to re-watch him as an adult.  What an impactful message he imparted to young and old.

One of the forewords in his books shared that he had an affinity for Henri Nowen.  Henri was a professor, writer and theologian, whom I also treasure.  His words have often offered me great solace throughout the journey of life, “A waiting person is a patient person. The word patience means the willingness to stay where we are and live the situation out to the full in the belief that something hidden there will manifest itself to us.” He had spoken to Henri after his stomach cancer diagnosis, and they discussed living well so that he could also die well.

That sentiment lands so sweetly in my life.  I take a big ole’ breath and ponder what it means to live well.  How about you, my friends?  As we get ready to flip the page of the calendar, my introspection and curiosity grows.  I notice corners of my heart that still need tending to.  I touch places of unforgiveness and anger and realize they are stacks of grief; for how things could have been better, different, and more.  I sit with my anxiety and realize that it blatantly pulls me out of the present moment.  I touch love and feel it spill into every cell.  I notice my happiness and passions.  I invite all of my emotions to be present with me and realize that sitting with them helps me to live well.

As I think about the mission and vision of Cool Creative Press, I think about what an honor it is to live this precious life that we are given.  How impactful each of our lives is in the greater scheme of things.  The presence that we offer to one another.  The kindness that we extend.  The emotions that we befriend.   Allow yourself to stumble.  Allow yourself to sit in the wonder of not knowing.  Extend grace and compassion to yourself.  Free yourself from the shackles of expectation.  Love the little child inside of you.  Be kind.  Find your courage.  Keep moving forward.

As we sit in the last days of 2019, may we sit with our humble sense of importance, how every thought we think, every action we take every word we speak ripples out and effects the whole.

May we all bring the best of ourselves into 2020!  Cheers to closing the pages of 2019 with grace and love.  Blessings for the year ahead!  May we all live well.

Big Fierce Love- Sarah
